Re: Permissions on editing configuration files with UBOS

The shepherd user is intended to be the administrator user for normal UBOS administration. Anything that the shepherd user can run and execute, including "sudo <some command>" is intended to be "safe" in the sense that UBOS is still configured in a way that it was designed for. Conversely, if the sh...

Re: Wi-fi configurations

This has been resolved off-line. The issue was a lack of carriage returns at the end of the .conf file(s) in the wifi directory on the UBOS Staff. This caused a WPA supplicant configuration file to be generated that WPA supplicant didn't like. Adding those carriage returns fixed the issue. In the fu...

Re: Wi-fi configurations

The UBOSbox product is intended as a home server, and so we ship it configured to only use Ethernet. However, as you found in the UBOS documentation, you should be able to get any computer running UBOS to connect via WiFi. That includes UBOSbox! We are not aware of any driver issues with the hardwar...

Re: very large snapshot files

These are actually not files, although they look like it. These are btrfs filesystem snapshots created automatically with "snapper" (see http://snapper.io/ ) during certain ubos-admin operations -- basically an extra form of insurance kept around for a while in case something goes wrong. You can rem...

Re: UBOS in Amazon EC2

This video probably refers to an old AMI -- we update them regularly.

Click on the AWS logo here: https://ubos.net/quickstart/ should work.

Re: Error MySQL createsite nexcloud

To be able to help, we need 1) platform, 2) hardware configuration, 3) how you run UBOS (is this a standalone PC?) and how you installed it / are booting it, and 4) whatever you may have done prior to the "createsite" command -- the error you see is not supposed to happen, and usually that has to do...

Re: How to enable https protocol for Nextcloud on UBOSbox

You created a second site on your box ("createsite" is named like this for a reason). "ubos-admin listsites" will show what sites you currently have. (You can run any number of websites on your UBOSbox, but you are now well outside the range of what the shipped UBOSbox product is intended to do -- h...

Re: Issue installing Nextcloud in Vbox

Hmm, it seems it would be a good idea if we shipped a larger default image on VirtualBox. Currently it is only 3G, but UBOS has grown and Nextcloud has grown since that number was set, and it seems it has outgrown it! I filed an issue: https://github.com/uboslinux/macrobuild-ubos/issues/27 In the me...
