New UBOSbox sudo password not working

Post by jpowers4 »

I just got my ubosbox nuc model b, I have nextcloud working and can access it all fine. However, if want to make changes like adding my own domain name, https, etc. but when I ssh in with shepherd@... and try some command with sudo I use the password ubos!4vr like it says in the online documentation but that is not the correct password, I have also tried no password and the password the was generated for my nextcloud account. Any ideas what my default password would be?

It sounds like you are able to ssh into your ubosbox with the ssh key from the UBOS Staff. Correct?

And now you'd like to perform some operations that require root? Is that what you are trying to accomplish?

By default, "safe" operations can be executed as root from the shepherd account with sudo and no password, for example:

Code: Select all

sudo ubos-admin status
If you want to go beyond that sandbox, see https://ubos.net/docs/users/faq-howto-t ... owto-root/

However, we can't support you if you make changes outside of that sandbox.

There are 2 main things I would like to do.

1 - add https to the default nextcloud server that came installed and running on my ubosbox (unsure how to do this yet and if I will require root)

2 - use ddclient for dynamic dns (I have this all figured out so far but need root privileges to change the ddclient.conf file).

I read the page you discussed and now have root access, thank you!
