Refuse to restore ubos-backup

Post by criky »

Hi there.
I got into trouble when trying to restore UBOS backup file after installing to 2021-07-30(yellow channel).

Afer clean-installing the UBOS-box to 2021-07-30, I tried to restore my backup file(*.ubos-backup)
But as you can see below, UBOS refuses to restore file from the backup file(.ubos-backup)
(Since I did clean-installation, there is no problem, no errors at all from UBOS side)

Is there anything I can do to solove this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Can you run it with two "-v" flags for lots of debug output? (Never seen this one before)

Here is the capture you asked for.

Can see my backup file has extension of "*.ubos-backup".
So I can't understand why UBOS says format error.

I did backup from UBOS 2021-04-22 version.(right before 2021-07-30)
Is there any update between 2021-04-22 and 2021-07-30 when it comes to backup and restore commands?

If no, I think there might be a corruption either on the backup file itself during the backup process, or on UBOS installation.

Hmm, my best guess is that there is some corruption in the zip file, and when we are trying to unpack it, that fails. So the restore command says essentially "I failed to unpack this, so it must be a format I don't recognize".

The next thing to try would be to see whether other tools also report a similar error. Try this:

Code: Select all

sudo pacman -S zip unzip
zipinfo site-multi-*.ubos-backup
This should give you the directory of all the files in the backup file.

Another thing you can try is to unpack all the files (with unzip) and repack them into the same structure (with zip), and then try to restore from that newly created file.

As expected, zipinfo command says the zip file is corrupted.

Like one of assumptions, the backup file might be corrupted during the process.
I would rather restore all the data from the local drive.

Thanks for your advice.
Stay safe! :)
